Season’s greetings!
Christmas at the Alfred is always our favourite time of year. It’s full on but great fun and packed with various events, plenty of opening time changes and general merriment.
Below is a detailed post of all our Christmas events. For any date not mentioned please see our Christmas opening times so you can see what is on offer that day.
Carols Night - Thursday 16th December
Kicking off proceedings on Thursday 16th Dec we have our Christmas carols night which is always an extremely popular evening. We are taking bookings from 5pm – 7.30pm for food which then guarantees you your table for the carols.
Best to book early to avoid disappointment. If you just want to rock up, have a sing song and some mulled wine or mince pies please free to do so but be prepared for the fact that space may be at a premium!

Open Mic Night - Sunday 19th December
Next up, we are planning an open mic night on Sunday 19th December. Christmas songs are encouraged! Rock up with your instrument or just be part of a very welcoming crowd.
We will be open slightly later than on normal Sundays too. Music should kick off from 7.30pm.
Live Music from Howard Perret - Christmas Eve
Christmas eve continues the live music with singer songwriter Howard Perret.
Expect some Christmas classics as well as some original numbers. The music will start around 7.30pm. We are open 4pm – 11pm (with food available til 8pm). Booking strongly advised.

Christmas Day
Apart from those with lunch reservations, we will be closed on Christmas Day.
Boxing Day Walking Quiz
Boxing day we are bringing back the ever popular walking quiz. A very laid back jaunt around some of the local lanes answering observational type questions.
We open at 11am so people can get out there a bit earlier and get back to the pub! We are open 11am – 5pm (with food available 12pm – 3pm). Booking strongly advised.

Bank Holiday Morris Dancing and Mummers Play - Monday 27th December
Bank Holiday Monday will be a big old pub day with our good friends Jackstraws Morris dancers joining us. They’ll be dancing and will also very likely perform a Mummers Play.
We will be open 1pm – 11pm (food 1pm – 7.30pm). Booking strongly advised.

New Year’s Eve
Having had various themed evenings and music nights in the past, we fancied just having a good old night down the pub to see in the new year this time round.
We’ll be open from 6pm-1am (ish) but please note there is no entry after 9pm.
