Updated Beers At The Alfred

Oh look we have a new keg lineup!

We wanted to bring our keg offering more in line with our cask offering. This means the days of Becks and Stella have long gone as we move to focus far more on independent breweries and their delicious beers.

Independent Breweries

One of the key factors for this change has been the total decimation of independent businesses during the pandemic. Supporting independent and local business is not only enjoyable but very necessary if we want to continue to see interesting and varied products and not the same boring stuff from massive global companies. Whilst global billionaire brewers like AbInBev are hard to out price, we hope the difference in quality and provenance of our new beers makes the odd 10/20p pint rise worth it!

The selection we have gone for celebrates everything great about beer. From crispy, hop forward lagers, to juicy, hazy pales, crafted by some of our favourite breweries. It’s a strong reflection of the types of beers that we as a family like to drink and we cannot wait to share the passion we have for them with you all.

SO, without further ado, let us introduce our new keg beer range!

KELLER PILS, LAGER, 4.8% - LOST AND GROUNDED BREWERS, BRISTOL

When we began to discuss reinvigorating our keg beers, this was the first beer that we said we wanted. - One of the finest examples of British Lager, Bristol’s Lost & Grounded’s flagship lager, Keller Pils now takes a permanent spot on our keg lineup. Pilsner malt from Germany combine with three traditional hops (Magnum, Perle & Hallertauer Mittelfruh) to produce a clean, crisp, bitter, unfiltered lager. Whilst we’re confident this beer will satisfy our loyal lager drinkers, it will also attract new drinkers and is truly a beer for everyone to enjoy. Vegan friendly and naturally hazy.

HELLES LAGER, 4.7% – BIG SMOKE BREW CO, LONDON

Big Smoke Helles - A brilliant example of a German Helles Lager brewed by London’s Big Smoke. This beer is crisp yet malty and offers a slight bready flavour. It’s easy drinking and a real crowd pleaser. Delicious!

WANNA GO TO THE SUN, PALE, 4.6% - LOST AND GROUNDED, BRISTOL

We are such a fan of Lost & Grounded’s beers that we couldn’t just get their Keller Pils, but their fantastic Pale Ale too! Easy drinking and fruity with notes of peach and citrus from hops Mosaic and Citra. Vegan Friendly and naturally hazy.

GUEST KEG LINES

Ever since we became a Free House, we’ve always dealt with numerous, independent breweries and have sourced a wide and varied range of cask ales for the pub. We plan to continue working with brilliant breweries and so we will hold two of our keg lines for rotating, guest beers. It could be anything but we’ll make sure it’s great! We are kicking things off with the local and brilliant Ascot Brewing Company’s Chaos More Chaos New England Pale Ale. 5%, as well as Wantsum Brewery’s Citra Ass Down Double IPA, 8.0%.

We have also changed our cider to Premium Triple Vintage from Broadoak Cider (4.5%) which gives a real essence of the West Country with delicious apple flavours and strong scrumpy vibes.

We have also added a 6th cask line and re-covered the bar, it all looks glorious.

Can’t wait to get this place rocking and rolling again!
